The museum has an extensive photo collection. It consists of more than 50 000 pictures from all over the Dalane-region. The photo collection primarily covers the period from the 1890s up until today. There are photographs of people, landscapes and places.

Over the last few years, an increasingly bigger part of the collection has been reviewed and identified, but several of the people depicted in the oldest portrait photographs are still unknown.
The photo collection is divided into two main parts. One part encompasses photographs where the photographer’s name is unknown, and photographs where we only have a small portion of the photographer’s photos in our collection. The other part of the photo collection encompasses several smaller photo collections based on known photographers.
